Parking Permits: Media Parking
ASU NEWS BUREAU
Keith Jennings
Assistant Director, Public Affairs

We hope that you will visit our campus on a regular basis and we have made arrangements for you to park as outlined below:
Reserved Media Parking Spaces
The media relations office has arranged to have a free parking space reserved for media use. This reserved space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The space is located on the east side of Forest Avenue, just south of Gammage Parkway next to the Student Services Building. The reserved space sign indicates space #162.
Parking in Visitor Structures
When reporters come to campus working on a story, arrangements have been made for you to park in the first level visitor section of the Apache Boulevard Parking Structure (formerly PS- 1), on the northwest corner of Normal Avenue and Apache Boulevard; the visitor section of the Rural Road Parking Structure (formerly PS-4), located on the southwest corner of Rural Road and Terrace , and the visitor section of the ASU Foundation Parking Structure, on College Avenue north of University Drive. Parking for reporters is available at any time in these structures on a space-available basis.
You will need to take the parking ticket issued by the machines at the entrances of the visitor lots to one of three places:
- The information desk of the Memorial Union.
- The Media Relations Office in the 660 S Mill Ave. Building, Fourth Floor, Suite 416.
- The Public Affairs Office in room 345 of the Fulton Center.
You’ll be asked to identify yourself and your organization. If you fail to obtain validation, you will be required to pay the hourly/daily exit fee. Fees vary and are advertised at the entrance to each visitor lot facility.
Media Parking Passes
The media relations office, in cooperation with ASU Parking and Transit Services, issues media parking passes.
These passes are valid in all regular, unrestricted permit parking lots as well as the reserved space belonging to media relations located near the Student Services Building on the Tempe Campus. Media parking passes are also valid in Lot 59, accessible via Packard Drive by Sun Devil Stadium and Wells Fargo Arena on the Tempe Campus. At the other campuses, media passes are valid in DP5 at the Downtown Phoenix Campus, Green Lots at the Polytechnic Campus and Lot 3 at the West Campus.
Media ;parking passes ARE NOT VALID in other reserved stalls, gated structures, metered stalls, visitor pay parking lots/structures, restricted access lots, disabled parking spaces, residence hall lots or in red zones. To receive a media parking pass, contact Keith Jennings.
News Conference Parking
When a news conference is scheduled for campus, special arrangements will be made for parking. Spaces will be set aside for reporters on a first-come, first-served basis.
A parking area for media representatives will be designated in the announcement of the news conference. Validation for visitor lots will be available from media relations office personnel at the news conference.
Parking on Campus Malls
The media relations office can make arrangements for parking media vehicles on the campus malls only when absolutely necessary. The malls are designed for pedestrian use, not vehicles, thus access is severely restricted and in most cases will be denied.
To make arrangements, call the media relations office at 480.965.3502. We ask that you give us at least 24 hours advance notice so we can then make sure there won't be any problems. If you can advise us of your needs a day ahead of time, it will make gaining mall access much easier. Emergency requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
ASU's Parking and Transit Services or the Police Department reserve the right to deny any request for parking on a university mall or walkway if in its estimation it would create a hazard.
The media relations office has an electric cart for use on campus malls. The cart can seat six people (including a driver) and has a 20-square-foot cargo area. If you need to shoot in an interior area of campus, we will be happy to provide transportation via the cart if you notify us in advance.
What if you get a citation?
If you receive a parking citation for a violation of university parking regulations while you are on campus working on a story or attending a news conference, you must submit an appeal to the Parking and Transit Services appeals office (Downtown, Polytechnic, Tempe or West) within 14 days of the citation issue date. An appeal can be made using MyParking Online Services or in person at the appeals office at the campus from which the citation was issued.
Microwave Sites for Broadcasters
ASU has a high concentration of multistory buildings that can make it difficult to get a microwave signal to South Mountain. If you need to do a live broadcast from a particular building or area, contact Keith Jennings.
